Founded in 1804 by a French naval veteran of the American Revolution, Laura Plantation is situated just outside New Orleans. This former sugar plantation now stands as a significant historical site, offering a glimpse into the lives of the enslaved people who once lived and worked there. Visitors can explore a permanent exhibition that features personal narratives, providing a poignant and detailed account of the past. The site also allows access to the original slave cabins, as well as the galleries, parlors, and common rooms, giving a comprehensive view of the plantation’s history.
