The Larapinta Trail, one of Australia’s premier long-distance walks, stretches 139 miles (223 kilometers) along the rugged spine of the West MacDonnell Ranges, starting from Alice Springs and culminating at the summit of Mt. Sonder. Divided into 12 sections, each accessible by 4WD, the trail offers a diverse array of landscapes. Highlights include the deep red cliffs of Ormiston Gorge, the serene waterhole at Simpsons Gap, and the expansive Ellery Creek Big Hole.
