Kekaha Kai State Park, formerly known as Kona Coast State Park, stretches along 4.5 miles (7.2 kilometers) of the verdant Kona coast on the Big Island of Hawaii. The park’s name translates to ‘the shoreline’ in Hawaiian, and it is a mix of black lava rocks and some of the island’s best white-sand beaches. Swimmers, sunbathers, and snorkelers are drawn to the tropical waters, while hikers explore the trails that connect the various beach areas. Visitors can enjoy the contrast between the rugged, volcanic landscape and the soft, sandy shores, making it a diverse and scenic coastal destination.
