Jade Buddha Temple (Yufo Si)

The Jade Buddha Temple, or Yufo Si, is a functioning Buddhist monastery in Shanghai, one of the few remaining in China. The temple’s main attractions are two jade Buddha figures that a monk from Burma brought to Shanghai from Singapore in the 19th century. The larger, a 6.5-foot (2-meter) seated Buddha, is adorned with semiprecious stones, while a smaller, white jade reclining Buddha complements it. Visitors can explore the serene and ornate halls, where these intricate statues stand as focal points, offering a glimpse into the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of the region.
