Ilulissat Icefjord (Ilulissat Kangerlua)

The Ilulissat Icefjord, located on the west coast of Greenland, is one of the northernmost UNESCO World Heritage sites. This fjord is a striking natural formation, created by an immense collection of icebergs that have calved from the Jakobshavn Glacier, known in Greenlandic as Sermeq Kujalleq. The glacier, one of the fastest-moving and most active in the world, is responsible for producing approximately 10 percent of Greenland’s icebergs. Visitors to the area can witness the dramatic sight of towering ice formations and the continuous process of glacial calving, offering a unique glimpse into the dynamic nature of this Arctic landscape.
