Ialomicioara Monastery and Cave

Nestled at the base of a sheer cliff face, Ialomicioara Monastery and Cave dates back to the 16th century, built by the son of Vlad the Impaler. The monastery’s simple white exterior contrasts with its elaborate interior, adorned with frescoes and icons. Beyond the monastery, the cave entrance leads to a network of grottoes, where stalactites dangle from the ceiling. One of the cave’s chambers once held hundreds of bear bones, adding an intriguing layer to the site’s history. Visitors can explore both the religious and natural wonders, making for a unique and immersive experience.
