First constructed in 1509 for an official named Wang Xianchen, the Humble Administrator’s Garden (Zhuo Zheng Yuan) spans around 13 acres in Suzhou, China. As the largest and best-known of the city’s nine UNESCO World Heritage–listed gardens, it exemplifies classical Chinese garden design.
