Howick Historical Village

Established in 1846, Howick Historical Village was created to protect Auckland, then the capital of New Zealand, from potential attacks. The British government brought in veteran soldiers to defend the city, leading to the construction of historic cottages and homes. These structures, with their stone walls and slate roofs, still stand today, offering a glimpse into the past. Visitors can explore the village, walking through the preserved buildings and experiencing the layout and design of a mid-19th-century military settlement.
