House of Wonders (Beit-al-Ajaib)

Built in 1883, the House of Wonders, or Beit-al-Ajaib, stands as the largest and tallest building in Stone Town, Tanzania. This historic palace was the first on the island to have electricity and a working elevator. Since the early 2000s, it has housed the Museum of History and Culture, featuring a permanent collection of Swahili and Zanzibari artifacts.
