Golden Hinde

Moored at the edge of the River Thames, the Golden Hinde is a meticulously crafted replica of the wooden galleon that carried Sir Francis Drake on his circumnavigation of the globe between 1577 and 1580. Visitors can step aboard to explore the ship’s detailed recreation, complete with sails and rigging. On the gun deck, cannons line the sides, offering a tangible sense of the vessel’s defensive capabilities. As you walk through the ship, you can learn about the daily life of 16th-century sailors and the era of maritime exploration, making the Golden Hinde a vivid window into a pivotal period of history.
