Fort Nassau

Perched on a prominent bluff, Fort Nassau’s rusty cannons still point out to sea, a silent testament to its historical role in defending Curaçao from various threats, including the Spanish, French, English, and buccaneers. Constructed in 1797, the fort saw active combat only once, during an English invasion. Today, though decommissioned, it continues to serve as an important signal station for vessels navigating St. Anna Bay. Visitors can explore the craggy structure and take in the strategic vantage point that made it a crucial defensive outpost.
