Fort Charles

Originally constructed as Fort Cromwell in the mid-1650s, Fort Charles stands as one of the few surviving structures from the devastating 1692 earthquake that submerged much of Port Royal. Rebuilt after the disaster, the fort continued to serve the British for centuries. Today, visitors can explore the historic site, which now houses the Fort Charles Maritime Museum, offering a glimpse into the maritime history and resilience of the area.
