Field Marshals’ Hall (Feldherrnhalle)

Modeled on Florence’s Loggia dei Lanzi, Field Marshals’ Hall (Feldherrnhalle) stands at the southern end of Odeonsplatz in Munich. Constructed during the 1840s, this imposing structure features three archways that house bronze sculptures. These statues pay tribute to notable Bavarian military figures: Count Tilly, who fought against the Swedes; General von Wrede, who confronted Napoleon; and the soldiers from the Franco-German War. Visitors today can admire the detailed craftsmanship and historical significance of these tributes, offering a glimpse into Bavaria’s military past.
