Fei Lai Feng (Flying Peak)

Feilai Peak, also known as Flying Peak, is a limestone formation located behind the western shore of Hangzhou’s West Lake. Its name, which translates to ‘Peak Flying From Afar,’ stems from the ancient belief that it magically appeared from India due to its distinct appearance among the surrounding gentler slopes. The peak is renowned for its over 500 Buddhist carvings, which date from the 10th to the 14th centuries. Today, visitors can explore these intricate and historically significant carvings, set against the natural beauty of the landscape.
