Fantoft Stave Church

Fantoft Stave Church, located just south of Bergen, is a remarkable example of Norway’s iconic stave churches, despite its tumultuous history. Originally constructed in 1170, the church was moved in 1883 and tragically burned down in 1992. Rebuilt in 1997, every original detail has been meticulously recreated, preserving its historical integrity. Visitors today can admire the striking wooden structure, with its intricate carvings and traditional architectural elements, offering a vivid glimpse into Norway’s medieval past.
