District Six Museum

The District Six Museum, established in 1994, stands as a poignant tribute to the community that once thrived in this Cape Town neighborhood. In the mid-1960s, the apartheid government forcibly relocated approximately 60,000 nonwhite residents to distant, substandard townships, demolishing their homes to enforce a whites-only policy. Today, the museum preserves the memories and stories of those who were displaced, offering visitors a chance to understand the historical injustices and the resilience of the people affected by these policies.
