The Community Baboon Sanctuary, located in the lush jungle near Belize City, spans 18 square miles and is dedicated to the protection and preservation of Belize’s black howler monkey population. This expansive reserve is home to approximately 1,500 howler monkeys, along with a diverse array of wildlife including anteaters, armadillos, iguanas, turtles, and deer. Bird enthusiasts will also find much to appreciate, with over 200 different species flitting through the canopy. Visitors can explore the sanctuary’s trails, observing the rich biodiversity and the distinctive calls of the howler monkeys echoing through the dense foliage.
