Church of Sant’Agnese in Agone (Chiesa di Sant’Agnese in Agone)

The 17th-century Church of Sant’Agnese in Agone, located in Piazza Navona, was originally the personal chapel of Pope Innocent X, whose residence, the Palazzo Pamphili, stands adjacent. This baroque masterpiece showcases frescoed ceilings, intricate sculptures, ornate altars, and detailed marble work. Dedicated to Saint Agnes, who was martyred on this site, the church houses her skull and a marble relief, while her body rests in the extensive crypt below. Visitors can explore the richly decorated interior and pay homage to the saint’s relics.
