Established in 1987, the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding began as a sanctuary for rescued wild pandas. Spanning 165 acres (67 hectares) in southern China, this open-air facility has evolved into a leading center for breeding and conservation. Visitors can explore the lush grounds, observe pandas in naturalistic enclosures, and learn about the efforts to introduce new pandas into the wild. The base offers a unique opportunity to see these iconic animals up close and understand the critical work being done to protect them.
