Nestled within the ancient walls of Diocletian’s Palace in Split, the Cathedral of St. Dominus (Katedrala Svetog Duje) stands as a testament to centuries of history. Originally constructed as the Mausoleum of Diocletian in Roman times, this massive octagonal structure was transformed into a church in the 7th century. Today, it remains one of the oldest Catholic cathedrals in the world still in use in its original form. Visitors can step inside to experience the hallowed space where mass is regularly held, surrounded by the echoes of over a thousand years of worship and reverence.
