Spanning the Adige River, the Castelvecchio Bridge, also known as Ponte Scaligero, is a symbol of Verona. Originally built in the 14th century, it boasted the largest supporting arch span in the world when completed in 1356. Although the original bridge was destroyed during World War II, it was meticulously rebuilt with the same red-brick crenellations, preserving its historic appearance. Today, visitors can walk across this impressive structure, enjoying views of the river and the medieval Castelvecchio fortress, which stands at one end of the bridge.
