Bright Filial Piety Temple (Guangxiao Si)

The Bright Filial Piety Temple, or Guangxiao Si, stands as the oldest Buddhist temple in Guangzhou, with its origins tracing back to the fourth century. Despite multiple reconstructions due to fire damage, the temple retains its historical significance and architectural beauty. The main hall houses a 33-foot (10-meter) statue of the Buddha, along with another large statue of Guanyin, the goddess of compassion.
