Barcaccia Fountain (Fontana della Barcaccia)

The 17th-century Barcaccia Fountain, a prominent landmark in Rome, stands at the center of Piazza di Spagna, at the base of the Spanish Steps. Commissioned by Pope Urban VIII Barberini and designed by Pietro Bernini, the fountain features a central marble boat with two masks spouting potable water from either end. The bee motifs adorning the fountain are a nod to the Barberini coat of arms.
