Crowning a hill above Ankara, the Atatürk Mausoleum (Anıtkabir) is a modern mausoleum and complex built between 1944 and 1953 to house the tomb of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, who died in 1938. The site, with its imposing architecture and expansive grounds, draws thousands of Turkish nationals and other visitors each year.
