Anand Bhavan, meaning ‘house of bliss,’ is the grand 1930s ancestral home of the Nehru family, located in Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad). This historic mansion was the birthplace and residence of India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, and later produced two more prime ministers, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. In 1970, Indira Gandhi donated the property to the nation. Today, Anand Bhavan serves as a museum, offering visitors a detailed look into the lives of the Nehru-Gandhi family and their significant role in India’s independence movement.
