Alcaicería

The Alcaicería, once a bustling Arab bazaar and the heart of Granada’s Muslim silk trade, has a rich historical background. Originally a gated market, it was almost entirely destroyed by a fire in 1843. Today, the restored shops occupy a more modest area, scattered along Calle Alcaiceria, just a stone’s throw from the Cathedral of Granada. Visitors can wander through the narrow, winding streets, exploring the small, colorful shops that now sell a variety of souvenirs, crafts, and traditional goods, offering a glimpse into the city’s vibrant past.
