The Aiguille du Midi, a peak near Chamonix, France, rises to an impressive 12,391 feet (3,777 meters) and is the closest point to the Mont Blanc summit accessible to sightseers. Ascended via cable car, the peak features viewing platforms and photo attractions, providing panoramic views of the surrounding alpine landscape. Visitors can also take a gondola to Italy or, for the more adventurous, use it as the starting point for the renowned off-piste Vallée Blanche ski descent.
