Aare Gorge

Carved by Ice Age glaciation, the Aare Gorge (Aareschlucht) stretches for a mile along the Aare River, from the Grimsel Pass to Lake Brienz. This limestone gorge, with widths varying from three to 100 feet, offers an intimate glimpse into the Alpine landscape. Suspended walkways and cave tunnels make it easily accessible, allowing visitors to explore its dramatic, narrow passages and experience the raw beauty of the natural rock formations up close.
