Ponte delle Tette

Ponte delle Tette, one of Venice’s most famous bridges, is nestled within the city’s labyrinth of over 400 bridges that span the emerald-colored lagoon, connecting the islands of the Venetian archipelago. The bridge’s name, which translates to ‘bridge of the tits’ in Italian, harks back to a colorful piece of Renaissance history. During this era, sex workers would entice customers by baring their breasts on or near the bridge. Today, visitors can walk across this historic structure and imagine the vibrant and provocative scenes that once unfolded here.
