Monolithos Castle (Kástro Monolíthou)

Perched atop a tall, sheer rock face overlooking the Mediterranean, Monolithos Castle (Kástro Monolíthou) was constructed by the Knights of Saint John in 1480 to guard the shores from invasion. Renowned as one of Rhodes’ most impenetrable fortresses, the castle now stands in ruins, offering visitors a glimpse into its storied past. The site provides panoramic views of the distant shores of mainland Greece, allowing visitors to imagine the strategic importance and defensive might it once held.
