Situated in the Cordillera Central mountain range, Cayambe Volcano stands as a unique natural wonder, being the only volcano in the world whose summit is crossed by the Equator. Rising to an impressive 18,996 feet (5,790 meters) above sea level, it ranks as Ecuador’s third tallest volcano. The snow-capped peak offers a challenging ascent for experienced mountaineers, who navigate its three summits via difficult, technical trails. Visitors can expect a demanding yet rewarding climb, with breathtaking views and a sense of accomplishment at the top.
