Carara National Park, situated north of Jaco along the Pacific coast, lies at the intersection of two distinct ecosystems: the lush, steamy jungle of the southern coast and the dry tropical forest of Guanacaste. The park’s easy trails wind through this unique landscape, offering visitors the chance to observe a rich array of wildlife. Over 400 bird species, including the vibrant scarlet macaws, can be seen here, alongside sloths, capuchin monkeys, anteaters, and parrots. The Tarcoles River, which borders the park, is also home to large populations of crocodiles, adding to the park’s diverse and captivating natural attractions.
