The Leshan Giant Buddha, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands at an impressive 233 feet (71 meters) tall, making it the largest Buddha sculpture in the world. Carved into a cliff face, the statue’s creation began in 713 by a Buddhist monk who sought divine protection for local fishermen. The project took 90 years to complete. Today, visitors can marvel at the intricate details and the sheer scale of this ancient masterpiece, which continues to draw pilgrims and tourists alike to its serene setting near Chengdu.
