Ascensor Concepcion, also known as the Turri Elevator, is Valparaíso’s oldest elevator and a gateway to the charming Paseo Gervasoni at the top of Cerro Concepcion. Originally powered by steam, it now operates electrically, offering a steep and rickety ascent up the hillside. As you ride, the creaking and swaying of the elevator add to the authentic experience, transporting visitors to a time when this was the primary means of navigating the city’s hilly terrain. At the summit, visitors can explore the picturesque streets and enjoy panoramic views of the vibrant port city below.
