Designed by American architect Willoughby Edbrooke, the Old Post Office Pavilion stands as a striking example of Romanesque Revival architecture. When it opened in 1899, this building was the largest office structure in Washington, D.C., but it was soon abandoned in favor of a new mail depot near Union Station. Today, the Old Post Office and Clock Tower is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, preserving its historical significance. Visitors can explore its grand interiors and admire the clock tower, which continues to be a notable landmark in the city.
