Perched at an elevation of 6,800 feet (2,072 meters) in Colorado Springs, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is uniquely known as “America’s only mountain zoo.” Spanning 146 acres (59 hectares), the zoo offers a diverse and expansive habitat for a wide array of animals. Visitors can explore the enclosures of grizzly bears, monkeys, hippos, tigers, and elephants, among others. A standout feature is the zoo’s renowned herd of giraffes, one of the largest in the world, providing a distinctive and memorable experience.
