Originally built as a rest stop in 1917, the octagonal, dome-crowned Vista House stands as a historic landmark in the Columbia Gorge region. Perched on a cliff, the building’s architecture features an elegant dome and eight sides, designed to complement the natural beauty of its surroundings. Inside, visitors can explore a museum with interpretive displays that delve into the history of both the Vista House and the Gorge. The main draw, however, remains the panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, which can be enjoyed from the building’s vantage point.
