Darjeeling Himalayan Railway

The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a part of the Mountain Railways of India UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the oldest hill passenger railway in the country. Spanning 55 miles (88 kilometers) from New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling, the railway opened in 1881. The journey up to Darjeeling remains largely unchanged since its inception, offering visitors a nostalgic and scenic experience. As the train winds through the lush landscapes and steep gradients, passengers can enjoy the picturesque views of the Himalayas and the surrounding tea plantations.
