Juyongguan Great Wall (Great Wall at Juyong Pass)

The Juyongguan Great Wall, a segment of the Great Wall of China, is located near Beijing and was constructed during the Ming Dynasty. This section, while less frequented, offers a challenging climb with steep and uneven steps. The effort is rewarded with panoramic views of the wall as it snakes along the hilltops, and the added benefit of fewer crowds. A significant architectural feature here is the Cloud Platform (Yun Tai), a squat white marble tower built in 1342. Originally, it served as a base for three stupas and later a temple, though these structures no longer stand. Visitors can still explore the tunnel within the platform, which features intricate carvings and inscriptions.
