Wailua River, the largest navigable river in the Hawaiian archipelago, winds through a lush valley on the island of Kauai. Protected by Wailua River State Park, this 20-mile (32-kilometer) waterway meanders past dense jungle landscapes and two notable waterfalls, Opaekaa Falls and Wailua Falls. The river also flows by the vegetation-covered Fern Grotto, adding to its natural allure. Visitors can explore the river via boat tours or engage in outdoor activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding, and hiking, making it a versatile destination for a variety of travelers.
