La Senda Verde

Nestled in the Amazon basin along the Yolosa River, La Senda Verde Wildlife Sanctuary is a privately run refuge that has provided a safe haven for over 350 animals rescued from illegal trafficking and abuse. Spanning 30 acres (12 hectares), the sanctuary is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including monkeys, bears, ocelots, tortoises, and birds. These animals roam freely within the reserve, cared for by a dedicated team of volunteers. Visitors can observe the natural behaviors of these rescued creatures and learn about the sanctuary’s efforts to protect and rehabilitate them.
