Built in 351 BC, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus was a magnificent temple of gleaming marble and finely carved columns, standing 164 feet (50 meters) tall. It served as the tomb of King Mausolus and was crowned with a marble sculpture of a four-horse chariot. As one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, it was the grandest mausoleum of its time. Today, visitors can explore the site in Bodrum, Turkey, where the ruins evoke the splendor of this ancient monument, offering a glimpse into the architectural and artistic achievements of the past.
