The Montpellier Zoo, or Zoo de Montpellier, opened in 1964 and spans 80 hectares just north of the city center. Designed with a safari park feel, it features open enclosures where many of its 120 species and 1,104 animals roam freely. Visitors can observe a wide range of wildlife, from zebras and lions to lizards and birds, in a setting that mimics their natural habitats. The expansive grounds offer a unique opportunity to experience the diversity of the animal kingdom up close.
