Nestled on the banks of the River Tay in Dundee, Discovery Point houses the RRS Discovery, a historic Antarctic research vessel. This ship, built for the harsh polar conditions, played a pivotal role in the Discovery Expedition of 1901–04, where Robert Falcon Scott and Ernest Shackleton embarked on their first journey to the Antarctic. Visitors can explore the ship’s rich history, from its construction to its many voyages, and gain insight into the challenges and triumphs of early polar exploration.
