Kisenyi

Kisenyi, situated in the heart of Kampala near the central business district, is a densely populated neighborhood where many of Uganda’s poorest and most vulnerable residents live. The area, often referred to as Little Mogadishu due to its 18,000 Somali refugees, is characterized by its close quarters and limited access to basic amenities like running water. Despite these challenges, Kisenyi exudes a lively and vibrant atmosphere, bustling with informal businesses such as butcher shops, fresh produce vendors, furniture makers, and metalworking shops. Visitors can experience the dynamic energy of this community, where daily life unfolds amidst a mix of commercial and residential activities.
