Originally built to celebrate six decades of Soviet rule, Ala-Too Square in Bishkek has evolved into a symbol of modern Kyrgyzstan. The square, named after the mountains in Kyrgyz, once featured a Lenin statue, now replaced by a monument to Manas, the legendary Kyrgyz national hero. Today, this expansive public space hosts a variety of events, from cultural performances and gatherings to occasional protests, making it a vibrant hub of civic life.
