Yad Vashem, a name derived from the Book of Isaiah meaning ‘a place to memorialize,’ stands in Jerusalem as the world’s most significant Holocaust museum. This complex, dedicated to the memory of 6 million Jewish lives lost, includes two museums, an exhibition pavilion, a learning center, and a synagogue. The central feature is the Holocaust History Museum, housed in a striking triangular prism-shaped building that runs through the campus. Nine underground galleries narrate the Holocaust from a Jewish perspective, using artifacts, survivor testimonies, personal possessions, and audio-visual presentations. The visit culminates in the Hall of Names, where the names and stories of millions of victims are recorded. Adjacent, the Art Museum houses over 10,000 works, primarily created during the Holocaust period, forming the largest and most diverse collection of its kind.
