Anhinga Trail

Just inside the entrance to Everglades National Park, the Anhinga Trail offers visitors their first glimpse into the unique wetland ecosystem. This accessible, less-than-a-mile-long (1.2-kilometer) boardwalk is one of the premier viewing trails in the national park system. Named for the Anhinga, or snake birds, that populate the marsh, the trail also provides easy sightings of alligators. Visitors can walk along the boardwalk, observing the wildlife and the lush, watery landscape that characterizes the Everglades.
