Just outside of Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak rises to an impressive height of 14,115 feet (4,302 meters), making it a significant landmark in national lore. Katharine Lee Bates was inspired to write the song ‘America the Beautiful’ after taking in the panoramic view from the summit. Today, visitors can still experience the same breathtaking vista, gazing over the rolling plains and jagged peaks of the Rocky Mountains, just as Bates did.
