St. Magnus Cathedral

The red and yellow sandstone walls of St. Magnus Cathedral, Britain’s most northerly cathedral, rise above the narrow streets of Kirkwall, Orkney. Commissioned in 1137 by the Norse Earl Rognvald, this Romanesque structure took 300 years to complete. Its imposing presence has made it the spiritual heart of Orkney and its most-visited attraction.
